Definition: Motor voter laws are state laws passed to consolidate the driver's license application and voter registration processes. Often presented as a convenient way to register large number of voters, in practice it marginalizes disabled and low-income voters, and other voters who do not drive, from the standard voter registration process.
Some proposed "motor voter" laws also require voters to present their driver's license at the polls, which constitutes an even more serious violation of voting rights.
