I'm a patriotic American and a model citizen. Why should I be concerned?

By Tom Head, About.com

Question: I'm a patriotic American and a model citizen. Why should I be concerned?
Answer: Because you're a patriotic American and a model citizen, and it befits a patriotic American and model citizen to be concerned about the basic guiding principles that have made this country what it is. And besides, people seldom do anything to "earn" civil liberties abuses. Make no mistake: If the Bill of Rights doesn't apply to your least favorite people in the entire country, then it doesn't apply to you, either. You just don't know it yet.
