The UCLA Taser Incident

Full Coverage: The UCLA Taser Incident

Last Tuesday, 23-year-old UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad was tasered by police, handcuffed, and then repeatedly tasered again. His crime? Refusing to show campus police his ID card.

Merrick Bobb, formerly of the Christopher Commission, is now conducting an independent investigation. I'm on top of the story, and will be writing more about this incident over the coming weeks.

I’m glad the campus rent-a-cops did not have handguns. At least now Tabatabainejad can take UCLA to court - it doesn’t have to be his parents or wife. This case was reported on technology writer John Dvorak’s blog, where comments ran from “he deserved it” to “some campus cops are about to be fired.” Constitutional questions were not first on anybody’s mind, it seems.
