The 2006 Jefferson Muzzle Awards

Friday April 14, 2006
Category: Free Speech

The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression has just announced the 13 winners of its 2006 Muzzle Awards. You're only a click away from answers to these burning questions:
  • Which speaker was heckled into silence by protesters at the University of Connecticut?
  • Which public high school fired its student newspaper editor for supporting gay students?
  • Which city bars citizens from using the word "Wal-Mart" at public city council meetings?
  • Which member of Congress used his committee post to harass a group of scientists--and why?
The Muzzles come but once a year--so when you're through reading the 2006 profiles, be sure to check out last year's honorees!
